The Program Objectives

The current set of the LSCM Program Objectives is posted on the School of IEM
website as listed below:

Within 3-5 years of graduation, the graduates of the Bachelor of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program are:

  1. Practicing engineering in the field of logistics and supply chain management, who
    • Design or redesign logistics and supply chain management system
    • Operate and manage logistics and supply chain management system
    • Improve the existing logistics and supply chain management system
    • Support for wise decision making
  2. Engaging in lifelong learning to maintain and enhance professional skills
  3. Working effectively with people and demonstrating leadership, professional skills and
    ethical behavior in the workplace
  4. Fulfilling the needs of the community and industrial sector of Vietnam in solving
logistics and supply chain management problems using industrial and systems engineering principles, tools, and techniques

The program objectives of the LSCM program were determined by the program faculty with a consultation and analysis of the visions and missions of the university and the needs of stakeholders. PO#1 refers to key abilities of LSCM engineers, which require the graduates to engineer not only able to operate and manage an existing system but also able to design a new system or improve it. The “design” ability is traditionally and internationally recognized as a requirement of engineering, which distinguishes an engineering program from a business program. PO#2, lifelong learning, and PO#3, human skills, are requirements of all stakeholders.

Thus, PO#1 and #2 satisfy the first mission of IU to offer high-quality graduate and undergraduate multidisciplinary education in general and in the field of logistics and supply chain management in particular. PO#1 and PO#4 also imply the capability of doing research and service for the community and society, the second mission of the university. PO#4 contributes to promoting the application of logistics and supply chain management in a variety of production and service sectors in Vietnam, which is relevant to the third mission of the university [Exh.1.01 IU Website]. The POs of the LSCM program is consistent with the visions and missions of the institution as shown in Table 1.
