Program Overview

School of Industrial Engineering and Management aims to attract, and educate students, and prepare them to be leaders in Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) in Vietnam and Asia. The department offers programs to satisfy the needs of Vietnam in industry development, research, education, and entrepreneurship in the field. Programs available include:

  1. Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial and Systems Engineering
  2. Bachelor of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  3. Partner Programs Degree (2 years at IU + 2 years at IU overseas partner universities): Bachelor of Industrial and Systems Engineering awarded by overseas partner universities such as Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey and University at Binghamton, The State University of New York (USA).

  1. Within 3–5 years of graduation, the graduates of the Bachelor of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program are capable of:

    Practicing logistics and supply chain engineering in manufacturing, services, and distribution sectors, who:


      • Design or redesign logistics and supply chain systems.
      • Operate and manage transportation, warehousing, inventory, and distribution systems.
      • Improve the performance of existing logistics and supply chain operations.
      • Support effective decision-making.

    Engaging in lifelong learning to maintain and enhance professional skills.

    Working effectively with people and demonstrating leadership, professional skills, and ethical behavior in the workplace.

    Fulfilling the needs of the community and industry in Vietnam and the region by applying logistics and supply chain engineering principles, tools, and techniques to solve operational and strategic challenges

    Intended Learning Outcomes

    (1) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
    (2) An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
    (3) An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audience
    (4) An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
    (5) An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
    (6) An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
    (7) An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
