Graduate Program Overview
The School of Industrial Engineering and Management at International University – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (IU – VNUHCM) aims to attract, educate and prepare students to be leaders in the Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) field in Vietnam and Asia. The school of IEM offers programs to satisfy the needs of Vietnam in industry development, research, education, and entrepreneurship in the field. Master programs currently available include:

Program objectives
Within 2-3 years of graduation, the graduates of the Master of Engineering in Industrial and Systems Engineering Program are capable of:
PO1: Practicing at an advanced level in industrial and systems engineering roles across manufacturing, service, healthcare, and other complex enterprises, who:
- Design, optimize, and integrate large-scale socio-technical systems.
- Manage and improve operations using systems thinking, analytics, and digital transformation tools.
- Transform complex industrial systems through system-level innovation, quantitative modeling, and engineering judgement.
- Support decision-making in complex systems using analytics, optimization, and engineering judgement.
PO2: Pursuing lifelong learning and professional development, including advanced certification, specialization, or doctoral studies, to remain current with emerging technologies and methodologies in industrial and systems engineering.
PO3: Leading interdisciplinary teams and projects, demonstrating strategic thinking, communication, and professional integrity in global and multicultural environments.
PO4: Contributing to the advancement of industry and society, particularly in Vietnam and the region, by applying systems thinking and engineering methodologies to improve organizational performance with ethical and sustainable considerations.
Intended Learning Outcomes
ILO1: An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex industrial and systems engineering problems by applying advanced principles of engineering, analytics, and systems thinking.
ILO2: An ability to design and improve socio-technical systems that integrate people, processes, technology, and information to meet specified performance, safety, quality, and sustainability objectives.
ILO3: An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences, including engineering professionals, executives, and academic stakeholders.
ILO4: An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
ILO5: An ability to function effectively on cross-functional teams, providing leadership and strategic systems thinking to address enterprise-level challenges in diverse industries.
ILO6: An ability to develop and apply advanced analytics in complex systems and use engineering judgment to optimize their performance.
ILO7: An ability to independently acquire and apply new knowledge, demonstrating autonomy, initiative, and adaptability to evolving technologies, analytical tools, and global practices in industrial and systems engineering.

- Course Assessment Guide:
According to the Academic Regulations of IU-VNU, the assessments fall into three categories as follows:
- Final exam: 35% – 60%
- Mid-term exam: 20% – 40%
- Others (e.g. In-class quizzes, group presentations, etc): 10% – 30%
The final grade of a laboratory course includes:
- Laboratory assignment: 70% – 80%
- Laboratory final exam: 20% – 30%
